Prof Stefano Berti Winner of the FEP AWARD 2018

At the occasion of its 62nd General Assembly and 43rd Parquet Congress held on 14-15 June 2018 in Sorrento, Italy, the European Federation of the Parquet Industry (FEP) announced that Prof Stefano Berti is the laureate of the FEP Award 2018. As a prominent and recognised expert in the field of wood and wood products, Prof Berti has dedicated his whole career to the steady progress of the woodworking industry. He has made a substantial contribution to the parquet sector from the sustainable management of forests to the most innovative applications of Real Wood products. This is the fifth time that the FEP Award is presented. FEP strongly believes that the Award is serving to further strengthen the already existing ties between the European parquet producers, paving the way for improved expertise to the benefit of parquet consumers all over Europe.

Being the European representative of an industry producing innovative quality wood flooring products, FEP has created the FEP Award to recognise the dedicated efforts of an individual, organisation, institute or authority having made a significant contribution to the advancement of the European Parquet Industry. Not only do their efforts help improve the industry’s products, they also contribute in their own way to an ever-enhanced Real Wood flooring experience. Next to receiving the FEP distinction and the enduring trophy, the winner is also rewarded a EUR 5,000 grant to support his ongoing research or related activities in the field of parquet products.

This year, the FEP’s Board has unanimously voted in favour of Stefano Berti, renowned Italian professor, who is currently working in the National Research & Development Council (CNR) and contributing to the development of wood products. Prof Berti has published 145 articles with a specific bearing on inherent properties and qualities of wood as raw material and genuine wood products. Recognising Prof Berti’s expertise and efforts, the 2018 FEP Award underlines his appreciated contribution to the parquet industry in Europe. FEP believes that his work will continue to benefit both the parquet industry and the European consumers it strives to serve with ever-improved products.

FEP is the European Federation of the Parquet Industry based in Brussels, Rue Montoyer 24. It reunites 52 European Parquet Producers, 17 major Suppliers to the industry and 8 National associations and represents their interests at all relevant levels.
